Keynote speaker: Bill Greeves, Wake County CIO

Bill Greeves, Wake County CIO is responsible for the County’s strategic technology direction as well as maintaining a portfolio of mission-critical applications. In the fall of 2008, Greeves co-founded MuniGov2.0—a coalition for governments focused on exploring the use and principles of Web 2.0 in an effort to improve citizen services and communication via technology.

Speaker Bios

  • Roger Christman is a Professor of Communication, Simulation, and Game Design at William Peace University. Roger is passionate about the possibilities ‘serious gaming’ and simulation applications can have in fields as diverse as aviation, medical procedures, and the military.
  • Clark Dudek, Software Developer at ArchiveSocial—a software firm developing government solutions for managing public records in a social media world.
  • Charles Duncan, Editor at the Raleigh Public Record, founded the online hyper-local newspaper because someone needed to report the local decisions other publications where glossing over. Charles has also built from scratch DocHive—an open-source software that quickly converts PDFs into structured data.
  • Amy Gaskins, Assistant Vice President in Data Analysis, MetLife is building a team of data scientists in the Triangle. She is an intelligence analyst turned corporate leader specializing in data analytics to understand target audiences, trends, and predictions.
  • Bonner Gaylord serves his community as a member of Raleigh’s City Council. He is passionate about Raleigh’s opportunities for growth in entrepreneurship, technology, design, and government 2.0. Bonner is a former CityCamp NC Co-Chair
  • Justin Kreft is earning a Master’s in Information Science and Public Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill. As a current UNC fellow, he is currently developing an open data platform that will implement information governance policies established at Wake County.
  • Khalia Parker, City of Raleigh Digital Connectors is a sophomore at Sanderson High School in Raleigh, planning to commit her future to owning a restaurant that serves her community with a fresh environment and delicious meals.
  • Bill Scanlon leads the Open Data Initiative and Innovation Office at Wake County. Bill is a seasoned IT executive who has lead mission-critical applications used by the County to this day. He has extensive experience implementing enterprise applications across the public-sector.
  • Tucker Severson manages government partnerships at SeeClickFix—a communications platform that empowers citizens and governments to build more effective public spaces through communication, collaboration, and cooperation.
  • Melinda Thielbar, Data Scientists at JMP, a SAS subsidiary, keeps SAS’s JMP software relevant in the marketplace by developing new features and applications that meet customer’s needs. She also has a Ph.D. in Statistics.
